Social Bookmarking

Which social bookmarking site do you use?

If you don't have one, why not?

I'm surprised that we principals and school administrators don't do more to connect and share online...but then again I'm not surprised. When we were teachers we worked with many who chose to close the door and do their magic...but the really good ones shared and contributed to the conversation. So let's synergize!

I evangelized the blessings of del.icio.us today and I now have 2 new principals in my network...welcome Arturo Gonzalez and Miles Erdly.

Steve and Jan are you next?

  • Hi Glenn,

I know that Puyallup schools aren't yet Digital Learning Commons members, but we have a del.icio.us-like social bookmark tool that members can use to save links.

    http://www.learningcommons.org/bookmarks/

Unfortunately, it is limited to DLC members. This is a good news/bad news thing. The good news is that because it is members-only, we've made it really easy to bookmark and return to sites that require authentication (like netTrekker, Grolier, SIRS, Facts on File, etc). Of course, it'll work with sites that are free, too. The bad news is that, well, your school has to join in order to try it out. (Of course, I think that joining the DLC is worth it for plenty of reasons, but I may be a bit biased.)

Anyway, we just launched it recently, so we're still gaining momentum, but check out it and let me know what you think.

I have a novice understanding of this but am jumping in with both feet!
I already added you to my network and saved one link. Feel free to pass along user tips to me:)

One down and one to go, flickr is on the horizon...

By the way, I felt disappointed to leave Seattle without talking some faith in God with you. I was hoping to have a little time to chat but time flew by. Oh well, maybe we can connect some other time. I would love to hear about your faith.

  • Hello Glenn,
I am new to blogging but I am an elementary principal and would love to share ideas. I have a delicious account but I am not sure how you use it as "social bookmarking" you will have to help me be a part of your group! Very exciting. One of my blogs is

Just remember I am new to all of this!

  • Karl - I like DLC but the timing is wrong for us. I do like the fact that you've added bookmarks!

Steve - Start sending me those great links you find!

Melinda - What is your account name so Steve and I can get connected with you?
